Are metal posts or frames that are surgically positioned into the jawbone beneath your gums. Once in place, they allow your dentist to mount replacement teeth onto them.
How do Dental Implants Work?
Because implants fuse to your jawbone, they provide stable support for artificial teeth. Dentures and bridges mounted to implants won’t slip or shift in your mouth — an especially important benefit when eating and speaking. This secure fit helps the dentures and bridges — as well as individual crowns placed over implants — feel more natural than conventional bridges or dentures.
For some people, ordinary bridges and dentures are simply not comfortable or even possible, due to sore spots, poor ridges or gagging. In addition, ordinary bridges must be attached to teeth on either side of the space left by the missing tooth. An advantage of implants is that no adjacent teeth need to be prepared or ground down to hold your new replacement tooth/teeth in place.
To receive dental implants in México, you need to have healthy gums and adequate bone to support the implant. You must also commit to keeping these structures healthy. Meticulous oral hygiene and regular dental visits are critical to the long-term success of dental implants.
Implants are usually more expensive than other methods of tooth replacement, and most insurance carriers typically cover less than 10 percent of the fees.
The American Dental Association considers two types of implants to be safe. They are:
Endosteal implants — these are surgically implanted directly into the jawbone. Once the surrounding gum tissue has healed, a second surgery is needed to connect a post to the original implant. Finally, an artificial tooth (or teeth) is attached to the post-individually, or grouped on a bridge or denture.
Subperiosteal implants — these consist of a metal frame that is fitted onto the jawbone just below the gum tissue. As the gums heal, the frame becomes fixed to the jawbone. Posts, which are attached to the frame, protrude through the gums. As with endosteal implants, artificial teeth are then mounted to the posts.
What is a dental Implant?
Dental Implants in Tijuana México are titanium grade 2 screws that replace one or multiple teeth in the mouth. They have been in use for more than 20 years. They have to be inserted in the jaw bone by a implant specialist and need time for healing. They are indicated in almost every case and it is the best alternative to replace the natural tooth.
Benefits of the implants with us.
Since the high volume of patients we treat, we can offer the highest quality of dental implant at the best price. In 2013 we opened our own dental laboratory to control the quality and the esthetics of the crowns. We offer life time warranty in all our porcelain and zirconium crowns.
Contraindications and disadvantages of dental implants
Dental implants are contraindicated in cases like heavy smokers, diabetes non controlled, active gum or periodontal disease, severe osteoporosis or patient taking alendronates like Fosamax.
Every dental implant need time to heal, in several cases patient need bone grafting techniques prior to have the implants in place, so, we request between 2 and 3 visits to have the full treatment finished. Implant surgery usually is a minimum invasive surgery but requires in every single case medication for discomfort and antibiotic after surgery.
Upper maxillary and jaw bone need from 4 to 5 months of healing for the optimal Osseo integration of the implants and the bone. Once implants are healed, they are loaded with porcelain teeth and/or dentures and require the best bone density to support all the stress from the chewing forces.
Time required for the treatments?
Stage 1. Either can be the extraction and grafting or the implant placement if the patient had the extraction before. Usually need in the office 1 visit of 2 hours for the first surgery. Temporary teeth are designed and placed if necessary.
Stage 2. Usually after 4 months of healing of the implant, patient gets impressions for the implant teeth or denture, and between 3 days and 1 week the final teeth are placed
What are some of the options for dental implant treatments?
Single tooth replacement.
Different cosmetic types of crowns are available for a single tooth replacement like emax metal free, porcelain zirconium and lava crowns. We always advice our patients to stay with metal free biocompatible products, on the first hand, the highly cosmetic translucenty and the hard quality products keeps a great advantage over the metal base restorations.
Bridges and Complete fixed restoration.
We can replace from 3 to 14 teeth placing implants with fixed bridges. In cases where the patient is missing all the teeth, depending of the size of the jaw bone, we do from 6 to 8 implants per maxilla and then we fix 12 or 14 porcelain teeth. It is the best alternative in function, esthetics and speech.
It is a great alternative for patients with dentures already.
Patient needs 4 implants on top (maxilla) and 4 implants on bottom (mandible jaw). Then we designed a very light titanium mesh reinforced denture to secure the denture on the implants. We use the universal zest anchors locators for this alternative. The main advantage of this treatment is the great fixation of the denture and in the case of the upper denture, there is no roof palate plastic. So the patient can taste and speak much better. Always the patients are able to remove the dentures to clean it.
